The English Teachers
Students learning English with Spen Languages have the advantage of having two qualified and experienced teachers with differing teaching styles. We also have experienced and qualified cover teachers who work with us during the busy periods such as Sam, Jack and Megan.
At Spen Languages we use a variety of methods in our teaching. We often follow the Cambridge English books and methods, particularly in our PET, FCE and CAE exam preparation courses.
We strongly believe in learning a second language as a whole process. This combines skills such as grammar, reading and writing, listening and speaking.
We ensure that our lessons are productive, inclusive and enjoyable. This aids students’ ability to learn and use these language skills effectively in a positive environment.
Chrissie is a native, Cert TESOL qualified English teacher. She takes a communicative approach to her teaching with a focus on speaking and pronunciation in the practice and production stages of her lessons. Students are encouraged to develop their grammatical accuracy while progressing in fluency and confidence in their spoken English. Chrissie teaches classes that include relevant and useful vocabulary, collocations and phrasal verbs. In the higher level classes common English expressions are introduced.
Nacho, who is originally from Galicia in Spain, has lived in Bristol since 2009. He is a postgraduate in English Language & Culture and has a master’s degree in Journalism. He often takes a theoretical approach to his teaching, combining all the skills necessary to grasp English grammar and writing structures. His lessons include the practice of listening and writing abilities using a wide range of topical materials which include English History, Geography, Literature or Music as well as Bristol related topics.
